Training Services
Mary offers training at High Cotton Horse Farm in 30 day intervals. Horses in training are work 5 to 6 days a week. We tailor the horse's training schedule to that horse's specific needs. Some young horses work better in shorter sessions...some can stay focused for longer. What works best for your horse is what we do. We do not use a "cookie cutter" style of training. Every horse is different, just as every person is different. We enjoy the process of discovering just how each horse "ticks".
Training horses have two options of housing, depending on their individual needs. They can have a 12X12 stall with daily turnout or the can have a 60' by 60' paddock including their own shelter.
Mary has worked with many different types of horses. Some of the breeds she has trained include Tennessee Walking Horses, Paso Finos, Quarter Horses, Andalusians, Gypsy Vanners and Norwegian Fjords to name a few.
Mary trains all of her horses with a Dressage foundation. As each horse moves up the levels of training she braches off to focus on what each horse does best. She never forces a horse into any discipline, she looks at each individual horse's qualities and pursues the discipline of their choice.
Mary has trained, shown and instructed in multiple disciplines. These include, but are not limited to; Hunter/Jumpers, Lower level Eventing and Combined Training, Western Pleasure, Barrel Racing, Dressage and Non-Trotting Events.
Mary enjoys starting young horses as well as re-training so-called "problem horses". Please see the Testimonials page to hear what HCHF clients have to say about our services.
