Snap is a 5 yr old gelding that stands 15.2 hh. We purchased him Nov. 2008 as a 3 yr old. He was started u/s before we got him and I was told he tracked cows. At some stage in the game we think he must have been handled a bit rough, because he seemed to be afraid of people at first. We have worked through most of that and he is a super good boy, tries his very best to please. He LOVES cookies and seems to have figured out that people bringing cookies can't be that bad.

Over the time we have had Snap we have spent lots of time on the barrel pattern and he very much knows what it is all about. He really takes no official "Warm-up" ..just enough trotting to loosen him up and he's ready to make a run. He will run to the right or to the left. He is very easy to run too, you pretty much just point him and ride with your seat. He does not need you to pull him around the barrel at all, he's going to turn when he gets there. I have had him in open arena at barrel races and he has gotten really good with all the horse traffic. At first the horses coming at him bothered him, but he's gotten used to that now. He really likes to drop his head way low and walk slowly around the ring when he's not making a run....looks more like a western pleasure horse at times...but he will wake up and is ready to roll when it comes time to run. He has typically run in the 3D or 4D divisions and qualified for the NBHA State finals Short go in the 4D.... at that point he hadn't been hauled much at all. I have not "pushed" him hard, but I expect him to be a 2D or3D horse depending on rider and the competition.

He is Very good to haul, ties perfectly, clips (ears and all :) Good for shots and feet. He has very thick, solid hoof walls and even though I have shod him in the past he stays barefoot most of the time..runs that way great to. He has good bone and a solid build. His teeth have been done by an equine dentist and he has been adjusted by the chiropractor (he needed very little work)

I know exactly how he is bred, but he was never papered by the breeders. I bought him that way. You can see a link to his pedigree here though... Click here to see Snap's papers Snap has some of the "grittyist" blood around... nothing but Cow and foundation blood running through his veins. His Sire, "Little Man" (King A Lena Rey), has King. Doc Olena. Freckles Playboy. Poco Beuno...all up close on his papers! (KING is ON HIS PAPERS!!!) Snap's momma has Skipper W up close on her papers. She was a big, stout mare with a wonderful disposition.

Snap's sire, "King A Lena Rey" won many rodeos and many 4D races as well...always in the 1D. He was an awesome cow horse as well. He has his AQHA ROM in heeling. He has AQHA points in heading and barrels. He was a 3 time South Eastern Stock Horse Assoc. Cow Horse of the Year.

Snap is a really easy horse to run and has a calm disposition, but due to his history of being handled rough he really appreciates a quiet hand. I have Never had him do a thing wrong or "mean" as in kick, bite, buck etc. ... he really is like a little soldier. He tries so very hard to please. He has no vices like weaving, pawing or cribbing. He is so well behaved at the barrel races and will just go to sleep tied to the trailer all day. He doesn't buddy up and worry where the other horses are either. He is passive with other horses in the field and doen't mind being in a stall either. He has had all of his shots and is kept up to date on worming too.

I have debated for almost a year about placing him and have listed him on sites then pulled him off thinking I wanted to keep him. I want to be certain he goes to a home where he will be handled correctly and gently and not run into the ground...because he is the kind that would just keep going right on till he could go no more. I have decided now that it is time to place him. I am pregnant and am due in two months! That is my main reason!! I still want to be sure he gets matched with the right person. He tries so very hard, he deserves a home that will appreciate that!

He is very much ready to go to the barrel race and run. He knows his job and just needs the right partner to compete with and feed him cookies!
