100 horses were chosen from over 1000 across the country to be featured on the TV Series. America's Favorite Trail Horse by ACTHA. It had only been one year at the time of filming since Lindsay had been wild and untouched. I am truly humbled and amazed at her talent and ability to trust with each new task we take on. She jumped logs, crossed belly deep water, crossed steep rock bridges, backed Up hilss, crossed elevated poles, passed by stuffed Bobcats and foxes! She was simply a STAR! Mary and Lindsay's Faith qualified for the Finals in the Nationwide 2010 Supreme Extreme Mustang Makeover finishing 17th overall. The Supreme Extreme Mustang Makeover consists of 100 trainers given 100 days to gentle and train a wild untouched Mustang and compete in Reining, Trail and Cattle Classes for $100,000 in awards.

Mary currently competes on Rox Ta Gold in NBHA and IBRA barrel races.

Rox Ta Gold qualified for the NBHA State NC Finals in the 1D and made it to the Short Go at the Dixie Nationals in the 1D. Mary feels very blessed to have the opportunity to have a partnership with such a talented horse. Feel free to view Rox's page for her story.

From 1994 to 2006 Mary showed multiple horses for clients as well as her own horse "A Classic Smasher" in the events of Western Pleasure, Hunter U/S, Hunter O/F, Trail, Showmanship, Halter, Gaited Performance, Arabian Native Costume, 3 Phase Eventing, Show Jumpers and Dressage. She was fortunate to help many talented horses become successful in the show ring and many have gone on to show and shine for others as well.

1998-present Mary has been fortunate enough to ride under the tutelage of a diverse array of talented clinicians...a few include...Dressage clinician Michelle Folden ~Bronze and Silver USDF Medalist, Wendy Olson-Lewis ~Top Eventing Rider in the Country 12th Overall Rider of the year, Ann Thal~ Upper Level A-Rated Hunter, Jumper, Equitation Instructor, Charmayne James~11 Time World Champion Barrel Racer and Million Dollar Hall of Fame Cowgirl, Sandra Vaughn~ Multiple World Champion AQHA Hunter Jumper Trainer...Each of these clinicians have molded Mary into the equestrian she is today, but the most importand Clinician of all, The Horses are her primary teachers. She learns more and more each and every day simply by listening to what her most admired partners have to say.

In 1993 and 1994 Mary was blessed to be mentored by the talented Kathy and Phil Grady in the discipline of Barrel Racing.She ran "Easily Accomodating" and won many NBHA barrel races in the first division qualifing for the NBHA World in '94. At the World Mary and Easy qualified for the Finals in the Open and the Youth in the 1D.

1980-1993 Mary grew up riding Gaited horses at Bird Dog Field Trails under the watchful eye of her Grandfather, CH Burgess a talented horse wrangler. She loved sitting on a horse from the day she was born and would often fall aslep in front of her Mother while riding.

 

*** From June 2011 to present Mary ALWAYS rides in a sei certified Helmet. After becoming educated by the Riders4Helmets campaign Mary feels VERY Passionate about showing ALL Riders that Helmets can be worn in ALL Disciplines.. even WESTERN! ... You will see pictures of Mary without her Helmet throughout this site, but they are from before June 2011... any picture from that month forward WILL show a HELMET on Mary's head! .. It is NEVER to late to make the switch! STRAP ONE ON, EVERYONE IS DOING IT! ***
